Torturm in Chatenois
Kibri B-8470 (Set B-8480) | February 2025 | A gift from my dealer
3.1 ~ Preview
For sharing one of my pictures of the KM1 Württemberg C to be put on his company car, my dealer gave me this Kibri Kit as a down payment.
It brought me back to the days that I made these kit as a youth while running trains on my dad's layout. You can see them in the background.
Around 1990
The set B-8480 contains 4 separate boxes, known as B-8470 to B-8476:

The models from my youth found a new spot in the Old Town of my layout-to-be: the Cochemer Bahn.

Finally, these buildings were upgraded several times in the good old fashioned ways (see Chapter 1.1)... but yet not to today's CB-standards!

Originally three of these towers were added to Cochem Town, derived from my father's layout.
However. one of them was replaced by the Klingentorturm in 2020.

3.3.1 ~ Painting
It's always a treat to put your pen on a blank sheet of paper and write the first words of a beautiful story.
For this tower I was pretty reluctant how it would look. It took mt several weeks to finish it, and still...

As a basic layer I used slate, since I have plenty of it's in accordance to most ancient buildings.
However, it is those small variations that make it so attractive to make something beautiful out of a building.
Like blue shutters or ivory white of the half-timbering, similar to the Storchenturm...

For the timber of the half-timbering I wanted something different this time, something dark green against black.
However, when mixing it, a slightly different shade emerged than expected. That also makes it special...

For the cast iron windows - which are very popular in Cochem - semi-gloss black was used.

The next day...
The large gaps between the two types of stone bothered me. Typical Kibri, Faller
would have made that much more suitable.
Therefore (for the first time!)
putty or kneadable wood was used.

More dry white and thinned lasur on/in the putty...

Hiding the broken tiles with some wood... a proven method
A few more strokes of paint here and there, and... finished!
